Summary[]

Chests are one of the central elements to Merge Dragons, and come in many shapes and forms. For more information on the particular Chest types mentioned here, please use the links to navigate to their individual pages.

Camp Chests[]

Buy Menu Chests[]

The Buy Menu allows for the purchase of multiple different Chests usually using Stone Bricks as currency. Buy Menu Chests contain items from different Merge Chains and may be merged into Level 2 Chests that contain slightly better loot. Most of Level 1 Chests are also available for free as a reward for completing a Level a certain number of times.

The purchasable Chests include the following variations:

Chest of Stones/Nightstones[]

A Chest of Stones is purchasable by Gems instead of Stone Bricks, and it contains 100+ Stone Bricks, while the Chest of Nightstones contains 2,500+ Stone Bricks. Reminder: Since Stone Bricks can be farmed in Levels, tapped and immediately added to your camp, a gems expense on these is generally not utilized in most situations.

Dangerous Chest[]

Dangerous Chests are mergeable Chests containing Mushrooms, Water, and Grass. They are the second-most expensive on the menu and they can be merged into a Chest of Beasts.

Golden Chest[]

Golden Chests (not to be mistaken for the Bountiful Golden Chest), are mergeable Chests containing Living Stones and Dead Plants (limited to Brambles and Spooky Trees). They are the second-cheapest on the menu and they can be merged into a Solid Gold Chest.

Moon Chest[]

Moon Chests are mergeable Chests containing Life Flowers and Fruit Trees. They are the cheapest on the menu and they can be merged into a Phobos Chest.

Pearlescent Chest[]

Pearlescent Chests are mergeable Chests containing Dragon Trees and Prism Flowers. They are the most expensive on the menu and they can be merged into a Spectral Chest.

Occult Chest[]

Occult Chests are mergeable Chests containing Hills, Bushes, and Logs. They are the third-most expensive chests on the menu and they can be merged into a Summoned Chest.

Chance Chests[]

Chance Chests were introduced in Version 9.3.0 (20th of September 2022). They can be obtained rarely as a bonus from the Daily Rewards and the Kala's Rucksack/Kala's Bonus Rucksack. Chest contains a 'Chance' wheel to spin for Dragons, Dragon Nests, and Dragon Eggs. You also receive random Merge Chain items. Can be merged up to level 3. Chests require Dragon Gems to unlock.

Decision Eggs[]

Although they are named "Eggs", Decision Eggs can be considered a type of chest that contain Dragon Eggs or Dragon Egg Nests.

Den Chests[]

Den Chests are a Den feature rolled out with Version 7.5.0; it is a weekly prize for obtaining Dragon Power increase goals as a group. Level 1 Chest requires 50 points to unlock, level 2 needs another 200, level 3 - 750, level 4 - 2,500, and level 5 - 7,500. Total points required to collect the max level Chest: 11,000.

Kala's Rucksack[]

Kala's Rucksack is rewarded for completing daily Kala's trade. It mainly contains Dragon Eggs/Nests and a Bounty Chest but some trades are only rewarded with certain Merge Chain items (for example, Stone Bricks trades are rewarded with Life Orbs, Magic Coins - with Life Flowers etc.)

Kala's Bonus Rucksack[]

Depending on bonus chance of the trade, the Kala's Bonus Rucksack may also be awarded, which contains the repeated main loot of Kala's Rucksack contents.

Star Rank Chest TBD[]

TBD

Super Nest Vault/Mega Nest Vault[]

Super Nest Vault and Mega Nest Vault are two variations of Dragon Chests. As with the standard Dragon Chests, these may only be opened by spending Gems. However, they will only appear within the Camp, and are exceedingly rare. More Super/Mega Nest Vaults may be created through very specific means; please see their respective pages for more information.

Time Travel Chests[]

Time Travel Chests were introduced in Version 9.2.0 (1st of September 2022). They can be obtained as a bonus from the Daily Rewards, the Den Chests, the Event Rewards, the Kala's Rucksack/Kala's Bonus Rucksack, the Kala's Shop, the Event/Season Portal Rewards and the Season Chests. Chests contain Dragon Eggs/Nests from past Events. Can be merged up to level 3. Chests require Dragon Gems to unlock.

Trophy Chests[]

Level 1 Trophy Chests may be obtained by tapping Event Trophies every 10 hours spent in the Camp, and then merged to Level 2. When tapped, Trophy Chests will turn either into a Level 3-4 Dragon Tree or into a Level 5-6 Life Orb. Level 2 Trophy Chests also have a 10% chance of turning into an Event Dragon Egg.

Additional Chests[]

Bountiful Chests[]

Bountiful Chests are non-mergeable Chests that usually contain 1-9 Standard Dragon Eggs (except Nature Dragon Eggs) and a few low level items related to the Level they're obtained from.

These Chests are unique in that only one is automatically obtained upon completion of a Level; only three locked versions can be stored in a Chest Room at a time; and the player must wait a set amount of time (or pay Dragon Gems) to unlock one depending on its quality (Bronze, Silver or Golden) and size (Normal or Large). Bountiful Chests also have three tiers, and will change appearance and quality of the loot based on the current number of land tiles healed by the player in Camp—this number may be checked at any time from the Map when tapping the Camp icon.

Bounty Boxes TBD[]

TBD

Bounty Boxes were introduced in Version 9.2.0 (1st of September 2022). They can be obtained as a bonus from the Buy Menu Chests, the Daily Rewards, the Kala's Rucksack/Kala's Bonus Rucksack, the Kala's Shop and the Level Rewards. Can be merged up to level 3. Contain random Merge Chain items depending on what items you currently have in Camp. Bounty Boxes require Dragon Gems to unlock.

Dragon Chests[]

Dragon Chests contain different Dragon Eggs/Nests and Merge Chain items depending on what they are obtained from. There are five main types of Dragon Chests: Wooden, Stone, Red Padded, Purple Padded and Pink Chests. Common for all Dragon Chests is that the only way to open them within Camp is by spending Dragon Gems. Within Levels they may be opened at no cost.

Level 1 Dragon Egg Chests, level 2 Radiant Egg Chests and level 3 Dragon Nest Vaults are primarily gained through harvesting items, healing Dead Land in the Camp and tapping Goal Stars. Treasure Chests may also contain one or more Egg Chests/Nest Vaults. Level 4 Huge Nest Vaults may only be created through merging.

To distinguish between two Dragon Chests of the same type and level you need to know where they came from and to check their price.

For costs and loot of all variants, refer to the tables in the Dragon Chests page.

Grimm Chests[]

Grimm Chests may be harvested from the Grimm Trees, Levels 4 to 10. They contain various Dead Things, Grimm Seeds and Fresh Graveyards. Merging three Grimm Chests of Suffering also may spawn a Swamp Zomblin or give you a Pile of Riches.

Grimm Chests Merge Chain has 4 levels:

Treasure Chests[]

Treasure Chests may be collected by multiple different methods including tapping Goal Stars, merging items, from Level Rewards, and harvested by Dragons. They contain Life Orbs, Life Flowers, Magic Coins, Goal Stars (Giant Treasure Chest only) and Dragon Chests. In Levels they may also contain Dragon Eggs.

Treasure Chests may be merged multiple times to gain progressively better and better rewards, and also function as one of the main sources of Dragon Chests. They are free to obtain and open, and may sometimes be obtained in very large quantities by enterprising Dragons.

Treasure Chests include the following 7 levels:

Premium Loot Cache[]

Premium Loot Cache is an unofficial level 8 Treasure Chest, and so far it may only be found in Sea Breeze ? Secret Level and during Den Events.

Event Chests[]

Every Event features Event-specific Chests, that usually contain a number of Event Point Items (like Magic Moon Fruits), Limited Event Harvestables (like Meteorites), some Life Orbs and Magic Coins. They will only appear within the Event and cannot be brought outside of the Event's level.

Event Chests have so far come in the following variations:

Retired Chests[]

Daily Treasure Chest (retired)[]

Every 23 hours the player may collect a Daily Treasure Chest from the dedicated island in the Camp. Upon collecting, the counter will reset and a new 23 hour cycle will begin. There are 49 unique Chests, and upon collection of the 49th, this cycle, too, will start over. Daily Treasure Chests are the main source of Super Egg Fragments.

Note: As of Version 6.7.0 (18th of August 2021) Daily Treasure Chest is permanently replaced with Daily Rewards.

Den Events Chests (retired)[]

Den Events feature a different type of Event Chests. Introduced during third Fluff Mountain Event, these Chests are only available for purchase from the Event's Shop for Dragon Gems, can't be brought outside of Event's level and contain a small amount of certain objects.

Den Events Chests include:

Season Portal Tips[]

  • For the Season Portal Upgrade, Kala's Special Request to "Tap Treasure Chests 35x" plays In Camp, Levels, and maps in Events with all the chests listed in this page. If in a hurry, chests can be gained through rapidly purchasing the inexpensive Moon Chest.
  • Tapping reward loot is straight forward from what follows by tapping chests, reward loot bubbles appear to be tapped.

Trivia[]

  • Only the Level 1 and 2 Treasure Chests and the Red Padded Dragon Nest Vault are displayed in the Season Portal Upgrade request but about 99% of all the chests available in the game complete the request.
