Summary[]

Dragon Breeding is a feature where you combine Level 3+ Dragons with the help of Soul Crystals to create Dragons of other breeds, including 30 new exclusive ones.

Unlike merging, combining Dragons won't use them up. When the breeding is finished you'll get them back along with the reward.

Breeding was introduced as a limited Beta test in Version 10.6.0 (28th of June 2023). It was expanded to more players on the 5th of September 2023. And later on was released game wide.

A new floating island called the Soul Tree (aka Dragon Breeding Sanctuary) is located just below the center of your Camp, in the place of the Daily Reward island, which was moved slightly to the left, closer to the Kala's ship.

To unlock the feature you need to have at least 1,250 Dragon Power.

Mechanics[]

The Soul Tree is comprised of two parts:

  1. The Dragon Breeding Portal, that can be be upgraded just like Event and Season Portals. All quests deal either with breeding (for example, asking you to breed with Dragons of a certain Rank, or create Dragons of a certain Element), or with making Soul Crystals. Increasing Portal's level unlocks various perks and features of the Soul Tree.
  2. Two Crystal Chambers, where the breeding happens. The first one is available from the start, and the second one unlocks when you upgrade your Portal to level 11.

Soul Crystals[]

To be able to combine Dragons you need Soul Crystals.

Originally, there were three types of Crystals of increasing power: Basic, Shiny, and Flawless. The Shiny crystals were removed from obtainment, and currently not available.

Each Merge Chain has several stages: it starts with a Crystal Shard, and can be merged up to level 5 (Flawless crystals).

Only level 1-5 Crystals can be used for breeding, and Crystals of higher level and power will yield better results and rarer Dragon breeds.

  • Using level 1 Crystals is guaranteed to produce an Egg as a breeding reward.
  • Level 2 crystals - a level 1 Dragon Whelp.
  • Level 3 crystals - a level 2 Dragon Kid.
  • Level 4 crystals - a level 3 Dragon.
  • Level 5 crystals - a level 4 Dragon.

How to Gain[]

Crystals can be collected from a few sources:

  • A single level 1-2 Basic Soul Crystal can be claimed from the Soul Tree from time to time. In the beginning, it can be earned every 22 hours. Upgrading your Dragon Breeding Portal will decrease the timer and slightly improve the level of Crystals.
  • Each day you can receive several Basic Soul Crystal Shards as a by-product from merges in your Camp. Shards are awarded rarely, and don't seem to depend on frequency of merges, or on which Merge Chains you're using.
  • Some Portal's quests have Basic Crystals as their reward.
  • Buy the Chest of Soul Crystals from the Buy Menu for 99 Dragon Gems to gain up to 4 Flawless Crystals and bonus Basic crystals.
  • Buy the Soul Crystal Bundle with cash to gain guaranteed level 3 Flawless Crystals.

Breeding[]

To start the breeding process you need to go to the Dragon Breeding Sanctuary, which you can do in two ways:

  1. Tap any Level 1-3 Crystal, and then tap the "Breed" tag that appears above it.
  2. Enter Soul Tree and tap "Start Breeding!" on a Crystal Chamber.

You can change the Soul Crystal you want to use by tapping it and selecting another one from a list of all Crystals you own.

After that you can finish setting up a match by selecting any two Dragons of Level 3 and above you wish to combine. To help you find relevant Dragons, the list of all your Dragons can be narrowed down by applying Rank/Element filters.

Matching different combinations of Dragons will take a varying amount of time. Each session can be finished immediately using Dragon Gems. You can also upgrade the Dragon Breeding Portal to decrease the timer.

While the breeding is in progress, similarly to the Dragon Missions, the Dragons you used won't be available for merging. To signify that they will be marked by a small Soul Tree icon in the Dragon Book.

Once the process is completed your Dragons will come back along with the reward: either an Egg, or a Level 1-2 Dragon of another breed. Occasionally you can also double or triple your reward for Gems or by watching a video.

Likely Results[]

For reading the results based on the time given and the number of gems it would take to skip that time, see Dragon Breeding in Progress for a tell-all.

All Dragon breeds are ranked as Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. Breeds of Gold Rank can only be earned from breeding.

Before the breeding starts you can see the breeds of what Rank you are likely to get represented by a circular chart. Bronze, Silver and Gold ranked breeds are available as rewards right from the start, but to unlock Platinum Rank breeds you need to upgrade your Portal to level 6. The names of the breeds of each Rank will be listed in the "Likely Results" menu.

The results are influenced by the level and Dragon Power of original pair of Dragons, their Elements, and the level and power of the Soul Crystals you use.

Upgrade the Dragon Breeding Portal to get rarer Dragon breeds.

Gogapedia[]

The Gogapedia is a visual log of your bred dragons. It is displayed when you enter the Soul Tree, and can be returned to by selecting the icon Gogapedia Icon. The Gogapedia shows images of dragons you have produced by breeding, and silhouettes of those still to be discovered.
