Summary[]
Season Portal Upgrade is a feature similar to the Event Portal Upgrade, but goes only as high as the level 10. It started its Beta testing phase with Version 7.4.0 (29th of November 2021), and was released game wide in March 2022.
Players must complete series of requests to upgrade their Season Portal. Higher level portal provides increased Seasons rewards, both the Free and the Premium.
The Premium rewards available to be earned after purchasing the Royal Pass through a currency exchange, changed what players needed in the game from Arcadia in particular. Season rewards from the Royal Pass offer the specialty dragons Autumn, Forbidden, Maple Moths, Prism, Royal Guardian, and Wild Gryphons in the form of eggs, nests, and dragons (shown in the background of the splash image above with the exception of Prism having in-Camp ways as well to be obtained) and these specialties, earned only through a Season and the purchased Royal Pass, are among the rarest dragons you must have to complete Arcadia, a separate challenging-to-play island level.
While Seasons are a timed event for the 28-days duration, the Season Portal remains in Camp continuously as a floating island. But if the Season Portal Upgrade is not pursued simultaneously during Season events, the Premium rewards result in lower number of eggs, nests and lower levels of dragons, making the completion of those specialty dragons merge chain feel too little. Hence the race, to upgrade the Season Portal and also complete the requests in the Seasons rewards, and to collect from both the Free and Premium track, all to receive dragons that weren't initially revealed as being critical to completing an island that would be announced later.
Upgrade Requests[]
Kala The Treasure Hunter makes another appearance here in the Season Portal (in addition to the Daily Trade and Kala's Shop), and the Upgrade Requests are considered to come as Kala's Special Requests. To complete a request or requests is to raise your Season Portal to the next level and for that, you need to fulfill a Dragon Power requirement and complete a certain number of requests, which increase in difficulty with each level.
Level | Dragon Power | Number of Quests | Quest Completed Indicator |
---|---|---|---|
1 → 2 | 500 | 1 | |
2 → 3 | 1,500 | 1 | |
3 → 4 | 3,000 | 3 | |
4 → 5 | 6,000 | 3 | |
5 → 6 | 12,000 | 4 | |
6 → 7 | 25,000 | 8 | |
7 → 8 | 50,000 | 10 | |
8 → 9 | 85,000 | 10 | |
9 → 10 (max) | 120,000 | 15 |
Requests may be completed in Camp, Levels and out-of-Camp Events. You can skip a quest with Dragon Gems to find another one, and these are affordable at around 25-35 gems per request, but skipping won't count towards Upgrade completion, and you won't receive a reward.
You can continue completing requests after the Upgrade Requirements bar is full and claim the rewards, but they will not, without an extra step, count towards the next Portal Upgrade. You must first upgrade your Portal for requests progression on the next Upgrade to begin.
On upgrade you will receive the Portal Level Up reward, which is the Level 1 Ornate Llama from the Ornate Gold Statues chain (has not yet been expanded to earn the full chain).
Once portal is maxed, you can keep on finishing requests for rewards, but not more than 3 within 24-hours period for a specific reward, else the 4th will reward a compensatory Level 1 Tiny Fallen Star.
Any earned reward must be claimed first in order to view the next request.

List of Season Portal Upgrade Requests[]
Once the max level for upgrades is obtained, 69 requests continue as shown below. Important point for those who pursue completed Merge Chains - it is possible to increase the Mystic Topiaries, otherwise a gem-only or infrequent reward through other play, through continuing to complete the requests. The requests might not line up at all with the reward desired, but there are 3 new chances every 24-hours.
Users so frequently ask "How can I get this request complete?", and for the Event Portal Upgrade that is especially true as those requests are the most challenging, but Reddit posts abound with suggestions. Consolidation on requests has only a small start in the Wiki per this writing 5 July 2024, with Ancient Dragon Skull, Bushes, Fruit Trees, and Kala's Rucksack updated with tips.
